I have an interview with Mesa Airlines... Anyone got any tips?
i've been jobless for about 2 months now (i know, that's bad) and i recently applied for mesa airlines (flight attendant position) and i've been invited to an interview.. i was wondering if anyone has ever been to one? and what should i expect? did you, or did you not get the job? what kind of questions will be asked? what kind of qualities do they look for in their candidates? and for you mesa flight attendants (if applicable).. how do you enjoy your job? what's pay and benefits like? i heard it's probably the worse airlines to work with.. but a good company to get your foot into the travel industry.. is that true? and how is training (if i get the job)? at this point, i don't care about it being the worse airlines (if true), i just need a job.. serious answers only please! thanks!

AirTran is always hiring flight attendants too.

If your desparate or your just yerning to get your foot in the door to working with the airlines long term then take the job. Mesa Airlines is a contract company that flies CRJ-200s (50 seats), CRJ-700s (70 seats), and CRJ-900s (90 seats) express flights mostly for United and US Airways. Many Mesa flights are delayed or cancelled due to crew scheduling and dispatch issues. Everytime I work a Mesa flight I pray that a whole crew will show up and that they don't downgrade 90 seat aircraft to 50 seaters at the last minute when the flight is oversold. Plus unlike most everyother airline the crew does'nt get paid until the aircraft leaves the ground and as soon as it touches down the crew does'nt get paid. So you can be sitting on the ground plane full of pissed off people waiting to go to Chicago and the flight is in taxi on a ground hold due to weather in Chi-town issued by the FAA and the crew still does'nt get paid until they liftoff, that's pretty bad. And a lot of Mesa crew members look depressed and pissed off and I done really blame them. But if your looking to take it further and you love to travel plus meeting interesting people then go for it! Good Express carriers to work for: Republic Airlines (Shuttle America/Chatauga RP), SkyWest, Air Wisconsin, Freedom Airlines.... If you get the opportunity to work on mainline aircraft (777,757,767,a320,737,MD80, ect .) with the actual airline itself they take good care of their employees. To be a part of cabin crew requires: Passport, excellent attendance, ability to be away from home for extend periods, no felonies, drug free, may rrquire you to relocate, on-call. Good luck

No matter what the job, the applicant should always be on time, dress appropriately, be clean, neat and well groomed. Manners help a lot also. When filling out the application, make sure all of the questions are answered honestly and correctly. Applications should also be neatly finished. Good eye contact helps as does sitting up straight during the interview. Since you have no previous experience with an airline, try to list jobs that you've held where you might have done similar tasks...like loading luggage, or being accurate on checklists. Your attitude also says a lot...try to be upbeat but not phony.
